Fun with Film April 2008

By John Moore - Denver Post Theater Critic

Denver director Mitch Dickman wrapped filming Sunday on "A Test of Wills," a screenplay written by and starring multiple-award-winning actor William Hahn (Listen Productions' "Macbeth"). It's the story of a frustrated playwright turned construction worker who is beckoned back to writing by an accidental porn clip on his computer. It also stars Karen Slack (TheatreWorks' "9 Parts of Desire," Heidi Morrow-Hahn (former Country Dinner Playhouse), Melinda Smart (Town Hall's "Cabaret") and Chris Kendall (Denver Center's "The Merry Wives of Windsor").

A Test of Wills to begin shooting February 2008
By John Moore - Denver Post Theater Critic

Listen Productions, which made its stage debut last year with a frontier take on "Macbeth," has nearly completed casting for its next undertaking, the feature film "A Test of Wills," written by Willam Hahn. Filming will begin next month. Hahn, who played the title role in "Macbeth," also stars in this gritty relationship tale of a failed scribe who escapes his dead-end construction job and his listless marriage by diving into his writing, which summons all sorts of "alternate reality" characters out of his computer and into his living room -- including a porn star from an internet pop-up ad. Hahn won the 2006 Denver Post Ovation Award for best year by an actor with a slate that included Curious' "Frozen". The cast to date includes Heidi Morrow Hahn and Karen Slack (best year by an actress 2007). Though this is Listen founder Mitch Dickman's feature-film directorial debut, he has worked on more than 10 features and dozens of short films. His "Mortar" was an official selection of the 2006 Denver International Film Festival. Dickman is currently in Honduras filming "Off the Radar".
